It just Warms my Heart

when my kids stand up for what is right. Spencer told me a story yesterday that made me so so proud!!!
He got invited to a birthday party that was taking place on Sunday. (I don't understand why people have parties on the Sabbath.) Spencer came home and told me about it and said, "Mom, this is a really hard decision for me to make, but I know I should go to church and not to the party even though it will be really fun." Killin me, boy! So I called and explained that he couldn't go because we like to keep the Sabbath day holy.
Yesterday in the car I asked him if he told his friend why he didn't go to his party.
This was the conversation a couple of first graders had:
Spencer said, "I can't go to your party because it is on Sunday and I have to go to church." His friend said, "I know, but my party is after church." Spencer said, (this is the part I love) "I know, but if I went I wouldn't be keeping the Sabbath Day holy." I asked him what his friend said after that....nothing; they just went and played tag.
Needless to say, my heart was bursting with pride for my 6 1/2 year old's son's righteous decision. Those are the moments that warm your heart and let you know that you are raising honorable, good children.

update on the family

First, today is my birthday. I can't believe I am 35. When did that happen?
So, today I have spent my morning at the doctor's with Sophie. She has been very congested the past few days, so I thought I should get her checked out. She has bronchitis. She had a breathing treatment done there which helped a bit, but we need to continue to due them at home. Poor baby. She is so stinkin sweet! She had her one month check on Monday. She now weighs 10.9 lbs and is 21 1/4 inches long.

Here is a picture the kids (minus Sophie) on Easter. What a handsome bunch, if I do say so myself :)

Last weekend, we had a special visit from Adam and Stacey and their kids. We love when they come to visit and the kids play great together (especially these two: Owen and Spencer).

I think ALL men love to hold newborn sleepy babies. It totally justifies a nap since the baby is napping. I have yet to see a man stay awake for very long when holding a warm, cozy newborn baby. Adam was so cute with her. It is funny to see your baby brother be so great with a baby. Stacey, he had a look in his eye, so watch out :)

We have been doing good here. It feels like someone has been sick in our house for the past month. Evan had pneumonia, Filippo had bronchitis, Spencer has asthma, my darling hubby has been coughing for three weeks (he refuses to go to the doctor...just like a man!) and now Sophie. Yuck! If you take away all of that, we have been perfect!

More of Sophie

Ok, I realize my blog has been about Sophie for the past two weeks...What can I say....I just love her little face. My Aunt Pepper and Uncle Dick sent this bear rug to Sophie. It is the softest thing I have ever felt. She loves to lay on it.
This is her little pucker lip face.

And her she is....everyday she gets more and more bright-eyed. I cannot believe it has been over two weeks since she was born. Time really does fly.
